Celebration - Looking to
the Future!

Set up as part of the
Government initiative
“Excellence in Cities”,
St Helens EAZs have now
completed four years of this
exciting project.

Representing over 6000
children and young people,
the 2 zones ACE & IMPACT
have enjoyed four years of
excellent progress and the
project continues until 2006.

Both zones are designed to
find creative & imaginative
ways of motivating pupils
towards higher standards
and improved attendance.

As a high priority, they have
promoted new partnerships
and new ways of working
that will bring major benefits
to pupils closely involving
Aiming high for your future - Reach your potential
The emphasis is on literacy,
numeracy and ICT skills but
the Zones have looked to
activities that will spark
enthusiasm and motivation.

A comprehensive community
arts programme has attracted
significant lottery funding
seeking to involve pupils and
parents in this innovative
project.The response from the
schools has been superb.

But above all, it has brought
secondary and primary
schools together for a
common purpose, namely,
gaining the very best for
pupils in St Helens.

As part of the celebrations
to mark the project’s fourth
anniversary, a conference
was held at the Holiday Inn
Haydock that was both an
opportunity to celebrate
school achievement & mark
out a path to the future.
Keynote speaker was
David Butler, Chief
Executive of the National
Confederation of Parent
Teacher Associations who
emphasised the vital
partnership of parents and
schools in providing the
best for pupils.

The highlight though was
the displays and
performances of children
and young people
demonstrating the incredible
range of their learning
experiences and sheer
enthusiasm.
